...I have a question for you.
In case I haven't mentioned it here *g* I'm retiring at the end of the year. I kind of had planned this all along, and the downsizing and Special Offer only made it more of a done deal. Part of the plan was that I wanted to have a "Yippee! I'm retired/retiring!" Party at Escapade this coming March. Originally, I had thought I'd host the Dead-Dog party as my retirement celebration. Then I kind of thought, gee, it might be fun to co-host the welcome party with the con. And now I'm kind of back to the idea of the Dead-Dog party because it would be more intimate, I could bring in outside food and drink and choose from some of the great local places (like that killer sushi place up the street) and we could have a blast.
So, the question is, what do you all think?? Does doing the Dead-Dog party sound more fun? (sushi, pizza, fresh local fruits, other faboo food I think of later)(Oh, and cosmos and champagne and soft drinks) And if I do the Dead-Dog party, will y'all be there to celebrate with me? And will you bring friends so we can have an awesome Escapade?

| Escapade!! |

With everything in the world being all bleak, wouldn't it be fun to go somewhere and hang out with fellow slash fen and forget it all? My favorite thing to do at the end of winter is go to Escapade and talk slash with a bunch of like minded souls.
Escapade 2009 is coming up in March, in beautiful Ventura, CA, on the beach, in the sunshine. Go check out the website! They've held over the early registration rate, so now's a good time to sign up.
And please share this with any fannish lists/LJs/etc!

Are you all as pissed about this as I am? In its continuing effort to have women be barefoot and pregnant, the Bush administration is doing its best to redefine contraception as abortion.
It's how they've done everything for the past 8 years, chipping away at our rights, our lives, our environment. Just small enough bits at a time that people don't really look. And by the time they're done, we'll have no rights at all...
While I'm at it, note to anyone who might be thinking of voting for "the original political maverick" (as if...). Most of his campaign staff and advisors are Bush cronies. If that doesn't give a clear message of his intent, I don't know what does.

So, this morning on all the news outlets, McCain is accusing the Obama campaign of pulling the race card. Really? What Obama did was, in front of a crowd in Missouri, say that "they're" going to work to make you afraid of him because he's different, because he has a funny name. And how is it "pulling the race card" if he is black? And if "they" (especially Faux News, that admitted mouthpiece of the Bush administration) insists on making overtly racial "comments" or "mistakes" like these:
In which Faux News again "mistakenly" identifies Osama Bin Laden with Obama's name
or
That code-word rich comment about Michelle Obama.
For a guy who was going to run a "clean" campaign, McCain is full of fail...

Back from the Great Southwest Geology Tour! Four days jam-packed with heat and sun and rocks and great holes in the ground. First was the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park. Then the Meteor Crater. Then Sunset Crater volcano and Waputka Indian Ruins. Then, last, but not least, the Grand Canyon.
It was a really fun trip with Taselby and her brood, and pictures will be up over the next couple of days.
Also? I've decided what I'm getting myself as a retirement present. The two-day mule trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Has to be booked well in advance, which is fine, as I don't want to go till next year anyway.

| Impeachment! |

|
On Monday, Rep. Dennis Kucinich made history on the floor of the House by reading 35 Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush.
Go here to sign a petition in support of the Articles!!
Yes, I know in many ways it's an empty gesture, but it's about time somebody stood up and said how many illegal and immoral things this administration has done!

No more "New Amsterdam" for me. Last night's ep just cemented for me what I'm not liking about the show. The guy is a bastard. A total jerk in his past and not much better in the present.
Now, explain why that show gets more eps, and "Canterbury's Law" shown in the hour before it only got two, and it was pretty decent??
